It was a better send off for Hutch Lanahan when he left this time from last time. The first time Hutch left Cornwall to become a professional wrestler he left without so much as a warning to anyone. Only a note for his fiancé giving her instructions on what to do. This time, when he pushed open the door to his cottage with Spencer in his arms bundled up in her little pink coat and their bags hanging from them, there was a crew of tired looking people. They were all hard workers, they all knew sacrifice and had scrapped for every pence they had ever earned, but here they were lined up outside of his door and down the street to the boat that would take Spencer and Hutch away from Penny, who was showing much more improvement, but still too sick to take care of their daughter.
Hutch heard it all as he walked with her, their kind words. People thrust gifts at him, people stuffed money into his pockets and letters, for a moment it looked as if the whole village was there to see him off.
“I know next time you return, you’ll be a champion.”
“Make us proud, Hutchy.”
“Why, when Spencer comes back she’ll be grown!”
“Good luck!”
People grabbed his bags for him, leaving Hutch with only Spencer as it felt he were in a dream state as he walked down the cobblestone path towards the boat which horn blew woefully in the morning mist. How had they known? Waiting for him at the end of the line was a plate, they had passed around for donations and some elder told Hutch it was for Penny’s medical expenses because he knew the family was struggling. Hutch bowed his head, half humble, half in guilt because what was waiting for him back in Las Vegas.
They called it Sin City, Las Vegas…And Hutch had done plenty of that in his time in America. He hadn’t exactly stayed faithful to Penny. Not only had Hutch slept his way through the current #FSociety announce team, but he had fallen in love. All of those memories wouldn’t be complete without Ana. Ana whom he had shared his secrets with, Ana whom he had shared training with, Ana whom was there for him even when Benji couldn’t be. Ana, his travel wife, Ana is best friend? Now all of that was crashing down with him thousands of miles away and all that remained was a couple of pop shots on Twitter between the two.
“You ready?”
Father called to daughter he turned around and raised one fist up to the village much like he posed when he was on the turnbuckle and everyone behind him followed suit.
Things had begun to change rapidly. He had gone from hated because of the way he left, to loved in the little town between of his success. Should he feel…Scorned? Why didn’t they support him before? Should he feel grateful? I mean, after-all now they were trying to take care of his family for him. Should he feel guilty? Absolutely, because he had an apartment now more expensive than over half of the home and the businesses in Mivagissey, but after his fall out with Jack Michaels, who knew if that was even left when he got back to Vegas.
“Blow a kiss to mum.”
Spencer said to him as they turned to get on the boat, and at the top of the hill, freezing to death in her nightgown was Penny, as pretty as Hutch had ever remembered her. For a moment he stared at her for a long time, his vision went back to a wedding they had attended, and that’s the Penny he saw at the top of the hill that led down to the boat on that sleepy morning.
With a smile Hutch and Spencer put their hands to their lips and blew a kiss up to Penny and she gave one back before she turned and slowly walked back into the house. Hutch wasn’t sure if he or Spencer would ever see her mother again, but he put that into the back of his mind and stepped onto the boat much like he did the first time he left for FSociety.
It was the same view, but this time his daughter was in his lap, and he was headed to the same place. In season one, he had claimed the High Roller Championship, held one of the longest win streaks in company history and was on the verge of possibly getting a shot at Tyson Gregory…Who knew what he could accomplish now.
The only thing that remained? Hutch Lanahan had to do something about Bryan Williams and Anastasia Hayden…Maybe even Generation Now while he was at it. With his sword and his staff, with a quill and a notebook if he had to do it…He would end it once and for all…But first he had to team with Ana.
“You know what they say, keep your friends close…Your enemies closer.”

“As much as I want to sit here and talk about Eddie Calhoun and Xavier Young. As much as I want to focus on this tag match? I can’t, why? Because of you Ana, because of you and Bryan Williams and your little antics on social media. Let me tell you a story, a story about when you debuted here. A story about how I TOLD management that you were the best they had. A story about how I made sure you were put on a path to get a shot at my High Roller Championship, and what have you done? You dumped Benji, you left us hanging for some hot shot in 4CW who struggles to make a name for himself. You put yourself with a loser, and you kicked us to the curb.”
“If that is what Gen Now is about? Then I know you’re not going to be concerned with a damn tag team match on a random throw away show that the champion isn’t even on, Ana. You meant a lot to me, your friendship meant a lot to me but you’ve thrown it all away at the sake of being petty. If I could leave you to the wolves this week? I would, but I give a damn about you a little more than you give a damn about me. I want you to make sure that you know why I’m fighting the way I am fighting this week, and the way I beat Benji like I beat him last week. I’m not fighting because you’re at my side. I’m not fighting to get a win, if these guys beat us because of our differences? So be it. I’ve lost tag team matches before. Won’t be the first, won’t be the last.”
“The High Roller Championship. It’ll look bad on that championship I put on the MAP and now you’re mooching off of and draining it for every dime it’s worth. Every time you lose—it looks bad on that championship. It de-values that championship and while you haven’t lost at all since having that title? You haven’t went through murderers row like I have. And you know? My plans were derailed. My story—I thought, was to head to the main event and dethrone Tyson Gregory but I fell short. I get that, but before I had to win a tournament for that belt. I had to fend over Zooey twice, I had to fend off Spider. Your opponents for the High Roller has been laughable…”
Hutch heaved a sigh.
“I believed it was onwards and upwards for me, but now? I’m being called back in. If you want it, Anastasia. I know a way we can settle this. It isn’t in a tag match where we are going to cruise. It isn’t who does better or who talks the best trash. I don’t believe in rematch clauses, I think you should earn it. If I have to earn it to get back to your championship? So be it? It’s time to shut you up…For good.”
“In the meantime? Young and Calhoun? You both seem promising. Who am I to say that you don’t belong in #FSociety when they gave a kid from Cornwall a chance when nobody else would? I sent my tapes in, I tried to get every promotion in America to give me a chance but nobody would. They gave me a chance to compete, I became a champion. Honestly? I hope that for the best both of you. I hope to see you thrive. I hope to see you succeed. With that being said? Now? I’m up there with one of the longest tenured wrestlers in #FSociety. Tyson? Cochrane? My name is being mentioned there because of my longevity, and just like every wrestler who has made their debut?”
“You will not come in and make a name on me. You’re defining moment isn’t going to be a tag match and then when you get your paycheck you bounce out of the door. I’ve seen it too many times here, there’s a reason Tyson, Cochrane and I have been the longest wrestlers here, we’re good. We don’t get chewed up and spit out like the rest of you lot. And hell, Calhoun? You’re probably a little more experienced than I am in this business. You’ve got to travel the world and wrestle, but I’ve been right here in #FSociety…”
“I can’t get my hands on Ana in this match without something crazy happening, but I can sure as hell take it out on both of you when we step into the ring. I don’t hold back, friend or foe. I see you, Xavier. I see you dancing around, I see you eating your skittles. Hot take? Want something flaming hot here? M&M’s are better. If I were in a better mood? I would bring some to the ring to show you the truth, but this week? It’s business. I don’t want to have fun, it should have been. It should have been Ana and I, friends, tagging up, it should have been Ana and I getting together before the match and training like we used to do. And all of that, Xavier. “Call us team disfunction. Call us team turmoil. Say that we can’t win this match because of the heated war we’ve been in over the past few weeks. One thing you won’t call us? Losers. At the end of the day, Ana and Hutch will stand tall as winners, because that’s what we do. We win. I don’t care who carries who. I don’t care who gets the pin. All I know is I’m going to show Ana how real champions act, and it isn’t how the one with the title belt around her waist acts, nor her little posse Generation Now.”
