Back in black, I hit the sack
I've been too long I'm glad to be back
Yes, I am let loose from the noose
That's kept me hanging about
I kept looking at the sky cause it's gettin' me high
Forget the hearse cause I'll never die
I got nine lives cat's eyes
Abusin' every one of them and runnin' wild
Cause I'm back, yes I'm back
Well I'm back
Yes I'm back
Well I'm baaaaaack
Baaaaaaack
Well, I'm back in black
Yes, I'm back in black
The camera starts rolling with nothing more than the front door of the Cochrane residence. The big gold numbers reading 293 on the white door is the only thing the camera sees until a hand reaches out to hit the doorbell. The door swings open within a few seconds as the Dropkick King, dressed in almost all black with a pair of black jeans, the black #Believe shirt, and even black sunglasses covering his face, smiles at the visitors at his doorstep.
“Greetings, #FSociety camera people! When and where do you want to start shooting?”
A barely audible voice informs Adrien Cochrane that the cameras are already shooting. Despite the sunglasses covering his eyes, his eyebrows visibly shoot up above the rim of the glasses.
“Oh snap! I didn’t actually read over my planned...ah, screw it! I’ll wing it. Can we edit this whole bit out?”
The same voice tells him they are not editing anything and showing everything they see. Like a true professional, Adrien immediately switches to speaking about #FSociety and his opponent for the upcoming season premiere of Anarchy, Sarah Keyes.
“I have to admit, I wasn’t surprised when you sent me that tweet, Sarah. You’ve always given me the vibe that you always want to prove yourself. Don’t get me wrong, I think Daisy is a hell of a competitor, but I feel like you are slightly more driven that her and fight with more of a chip on your shoulder. It honestly reminds me of how I approach a lot of matches. It’s no surprise to me that you are part of what could go down as one of the greatest tag teams in our company. I’m pretty sure that’s a stance I’ve had for quite a long time now, and I’m literally watching that prediction of you and Daisy excel come to fruition. Kinda cool when you can say that you heard it here first.
“You say that it irks you that I’ve beaten you twice in your domain. Neither time with the tag straps on the line, but two of your only tag losses coming to one man is something that’s weighing heavily on the back of your mind. I guess I can get that. Part of me is still hung up over letting Aurora Graves get a pinfall over me. These things happen. But there are a few important lessons that you have to learn from these experiences. I’m not just talking about your losses to me but I’m talking about my losses as well. Let’s go over them together, Sarah.”
Index finger goes up as Adrien numbers a list for the second time in recent memory of his videos.
“First and foremost, we can’t change the past, Sarah. I can’t erase my losses. You can’t either. And we can’t let them haunt us, Sarah. You’ve been letting your losses to me haunt you a lot worse than I had hoped. To you, a singles competitor waltzed into tag matches against you on two different occasions with two different partners and came up victorious. I can definitely see how that would cause some frustration. Your reaction: try to get a bit of vengeance but trying to get a victory over me in singles competition. As much as I admire the fire that is burning in your spirit, you’re letting your disappointments take up way too much space in here.”
The Dropkick King points to his head, referring to the mind of Sarah Keyes.
“You’re not at your best if you keep dwelling on your past mistakes, Sarah. You can’t worry about the last match you lost but the next match you’re going to win. Which is the second lesson…”
Adrien's hand goes from a single finger pointing at his head to two fingers in front of his body.
“Your number one focus must always be the next match. Your tag matches against me with Aurora and Hutch mean nothing right now. Right now, you have Adrien Cochrane, one on one, in the ring, in a few short weeks and that is the only match that matters right now. Even your glorious tag defense should be celebrated for a day or two then immediately set aside. That’s not to say you shouldn’t let momentum from a winning streak not help give you confidence in your next match. When you’re riding that wave, ride it! But you can’t let matches that have already happened take up too much of your focus. You are stepping into the ring with a three-time World Heavyweight Champion. All your attention needs to be on what you’re going to do when that bell sounds.
“Does that mean to ignore anything you could learn from your past matches? Hell no! Watch that tape; I know I will! You never know when you notice something you can use to your advantage when you rewatch it. Maybe I displayed an inability to defend against a certain attack? Maybe there was something that gives away my next move? Dig it up! That’s preparation for the upcoming match so it’s fair game when it comes to not dwelling on the past but on the present.”
The third finger goes up with a bit of a chuckle from the former champion.
“Last thing we need to learn from this is a pretty big one. Sometimes, there is no shame in losing to a talented individual. Perfection doesn’t exist. As perfect as I tell Stacy she is every night, that’s more of a subjective viewpoint of perfection. Objectively speaking, no one is perfect. Not Stacy, not you, not me, not Tyson or anyone else on this roster, other rosters, people in offices across the globe...no one. Not a single mortal entity. Anyone who thinks they are is kidding themselves. So when we do have our losses to whoever they may end up being: take the whole situation into perspective.
“For an example, Tyson Gregory is a hell of a wrestler. Super talented, even if we disagree about a lot of fundamental and philosophical views and probably will never be at a point where we would be hanging out on a weekend night. But I would be a moron not to admit the guy is talented. There is no shame in losing to him, even if it’s my goal to not let it happen again. You can’t beat yourself up for losing to someone of that caliber. And I hope that you understand that as well. There should be no shame in losing to me. I was the champion of this company, the only one with a victory over the guy who is currently champion. After our match, should this go my way, I don’t want you to feel like you can’t take down whoever you’re up against because of a loss to me. You should be able to say ‘Yeah, I lost, but look who I lost to!’ If you respect me as much as you say you do, this shouldn’t be too hard for you to be able to accept, and be great the next time you step into the ring. And I believe in you enough that you can absolutely take a loss to me and go on and be great next go around because you have proven that already! You won the titles you carry after a loss to me. You retained your titles after a loss to me. Heck, at this point, losing a match to me is like a good luck charm or a way for you to calibrate what you’re doing in the ring to get the winning formula down.
“And I’m in no way underestimating your ability, Sarah. You’re a champion in this great organization. There’s a reason for that and that’s because you have talent and heart. You can’t hold a championship without that. Are you capable of sneaking a win against me? Absolutely! Am I going to let you? Of course not, you are going to have to earn it. Don’t mistake my confidence in my abilities as a diss on your own. Don’t think I’m not taking you seriously. I am. I’ve been studying our last two matches and all your other matches the moment you tweeted your challenge to me. I’ve been dissecting as much Sarah Keyes as I could. I’m giving you everything I got, one hundred and ten percent. And I want you to do the same, Sarah. Show me what you can do without Daisy. Show me what Sarah Keyes is as an individual, and not just a part of Locke and Keyes. I look forward to seeing what you got.”
Adrien at this point takes a seat on the step in front of his front door before removing his sunglasses. While he has said everything that needs to be said about his match, the New Orleans native believes there is another topic that needs to be addressed.
“There is an issue that should probably be addressed while I have a camera pointing at me. I was fortunate that when my young protege was on his way to the ring to face off against his Cold Dawn opponent, my manager noticed that the duo of Orleans and Bully McCarron was on their way to the ring. He halted Adam from continuing to the ring until it was clear what their intentions were. Once the attack on Benjamin Haskell started, we knew not to let Adam go to the ring and head back to his locker room. Close call that I’m thankful that nothing happened to the kid, but it was still unfortunate that he didn’t get to compete. Mere moments after he tweets how lucky he felt that the events went down the way they did, our owner replied with a threat towards him.”
As he utters his next statement, Cochrane’s eyebrows lower and his fist clenches a little bit. He looks down then back up again.
“I can deal with attacks on me and speak on this subject knowing there’s a risk of it happening...I’ve been in this business for about eleven years now and I can take it...but Adam Sanders does nothing but steps into the ring with whoever he is booked against, competes in his match, then goes home.”
A little bit of a lip quiver from the Dropkick King as he continues.
“I do not want to see him attacked for absolutely no reason at all. The kid barely speaks to anyone on the roster other than me and Kenzie. If you see a problem with your wrestlers being out of control and doing whatever they want, Adam Sanders is NOT the problem and shouldn’t be treated like he is. I’m not even sure if Haskell was really the problem either, and he actually was attacked, not just threatened. Now, I politely asked Chris Night not to threaten my protege. I did so in the most polite tone that can be done on Twitter. I even ended it with the statement that he’s better than that. Because I’ve known Night across two companies now, and I do like and respect the man.
“His first response, I didn’t like. He knows me well enough to know I was going to ask him not to threaten Adam, or at least I hope he knows me well enough for me to do so. But his response was basically a shot at me and how I should be grateful for the opportunity to succeed in his company and just follow him blindly with no explanation. He tried elaborate on it a bit more respectfully, which I appreciated, that he doesn’t want to harm people using the I-10 Connection anymore. He wants to help us, he says. But when I asked him to explain his intentions and what he was trying to sell us, he told me to rewatch his and Drayton’s speech at Cold Dawn. I couldn’t really get past one particular sentence that was uttered: wrestlers ruin wrestling. As a wrestler myself, it was a bit difficult for me to really go beyond that with an open mind.
“Now, if he wants to run a tighter ship as a booker, I completely respect and applaud that. It’s his locker room and his company. Defeats the purpose of naming your bi-weekly show Anarchy, but that’s another story. If he says these random attacks are over, then this is a step in the right direction. But if putting hits out on people at absolute random are his way to try to create the atmosphere he desires, then he’s not creating order in the locker room. He’s only breeding more chaos.
“Now, he says the attacks are over. If that’s true, maybe he’s going to address what he sees a problem in a manner that I will find a more acceptable solution. Like I said, I got no problem with him addressing things as a booker, I just don’t want to feel like I’m working for a mob boss, ready to put out a hit on anyone at complete random. I’ll come into our season premiere with an open mind. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt. I’m going to give Chris Night a chance to follow through on his promise out of respect for him.
“But my alignment compass is not Lawful Good, contrary to popular belief. I’m a definite Neutral Good, willing to follow the rules if they don’t interfere with my values. Protecting someone I care about from something completely uncalled for will make me throw the rulebook out the window. Part of me is even expecting the possibility that I might have to work with Sarah Keyes to repel a Bully and Orleans attack, but I really hope it doesn’t come to that.
“I guess the point of all this rambling, Chris, is that I have just one request: Follow through with the promise you made to me on Twitter. Be a man of your word like I hope you will be. Stop the random attacks against innocent people. If you do, I can try to understand what you’re trying to accomplish and maybe even get the atmosphere you’re trying to create. But it’s hard to get behind it when your philosophy blames innocent people and puts them in harm's way. Otherwise...listen, I’ve had to lead too many wrestler uprisings in my career that I don’t want to have to be a part of yet another one against an owner I do like and respect. We can write a peaceful end to this story, Chris. I really hope this is how events unfold. If not…
“...Well, I’ll be disappointed. I guess I’ll do what I have to do. As I’ve said many times before, I consider myself a leader. I’ve proven that and even convinced someone who didn’t think I was a leader in Hutch Lanahan. I could be a huge domino on how things turn out with your attempt to restore order in your locker room. Meet me halfway, Chris, and we can prosper together. Ball, your court.”
Back in the back of a Cadillac
Number one with a bullet I'm a power pack

The warm New Orleans air breezes by as Adrien Cochrane stares deeply at the golf ball sitting on the fake green grass. He looks back at the flag a few yards away then at the angle in which he should strike the ball to try to sink the shot. Just as he is about to take his shot, the Dropkick King sets the club down once more, actually laying on the ground this time to assess the level of the terrain and any hidden bumps on the path.
Stacy: “Adrien, would you take your shot already? I want my turn!”
Stacy Sterling’s voice was playful, but the face of his girlfriend clearly showed she was getting impatient. She walked over to him and leaned down, tapping him on the shoulder.
Stacy: “Babe? I don’t think the hole has moved.”
Adrien’s ears perk up as he hears the somewhat joking comment about the location of the hole. Had Eddie been around, a “That’s what she said” joke surely would have been cracked, but fortunately for the couple, it was only them on this calm Friday evening.
Adrien: “I’m just trying to make sure I make this shot! You’re catching up to me, and we’re only halfway through the course!”
Stacy: “I’m going to beat you anyways, so is all of the prima donna stuff really necessary?”
Stacy laughs as Adrien stands back to his feet, focusing. Right as he got ready to make his move, Stacy moves in and tickles his sides, causing Adrien to whiff on the shot entirely and spin around towards Stacy who has backpedaled away, cracking up in a fit of laughter.
Stacy: “Ugh! If only I could have gotten that on video! You totally missed the ball, forget the hole!”
Her teasing was good natured, as she walked back towards Adrien who had placed one hand on his hip while holding his club in the other hand.
Stacy: “I’m sorry, I had to. You get a do-over, or a second shot, or whatever they call that in golf.”
Adrien: “I think the golf term is a mulligan. Fortunately for that, the ball didn’t even move from its original location, as you so astutely pointed out for anyone within earshot to notice.”
Now that the proverbial dust has settled on the little prank, Adrien can’t help but crack a smile at the whole thing.
Adrien: “And here I thought you were some sort of pure-hearted angel who would never want to tarnish a contest with such trickery.”
It was his turn to tease her. And tease her he was. He tries to grab the air above her, as she looks slightly perplexed as to what the six foot one wrestler was doing.
Adrien: “There, I got your halo now. Better find some other use for this little thing.”
Stacy: “So not fair!”
Sterling tried snatching the invisible halo back but Adrien took a swift step back as Stacy ended up with nothing but air in her hands. She took off her pink Nike hat and crossed her arms, pouting playfully.
Stacy: “All I wanted to do was put the halo on and take this hat off, but you have to make it difficult, don’t you?”
She holds the hat out towards Adrien.
Stacy: “Fair trade?”
Adrien has a mischievous grin across a face, an expression rare from the Dropkick King ever since he grew out of his Original Prankster persona seven years ago.
Adrien: “I might need some convincing…”
Stacy: “Maybe I could take your shot, sink it, and then you have to give my halo back?”
That clearly wasn’t what Adrien wanted. Stacy had the ability to read him based on his facial expressions, and he wasn’t impressed. The blonde slowly took a few steps forward, wrapping her arms around his waist, clutching her pink hat at the base of his lower back.
Stacy: “More convincing needed? I think I have the perfect idea.”
Stacy postures up on her tippy toes and slowly kisses Adrien, only pulling her face back a few moments later as the gentle breeze blew a strand of hair on her forehead back and forth.
Stacy: “Was that convincing enough?”
Adrien smiles as he pulls back the loose hair for his girlfriend. Before saying a word, he pantomimes putting the halo back over her head.
Adrien: “Your skills at persuasion are unmatched, my dear. Anyway...golf! We were doing that golf thing, yes?!”
A small chuckle from Stacy is audible as Adrien immediately turns back to his ball, still precisely where it was located when he was examining it moments ago. This time, without any surprises, Adrien gently strikes the ball and watches it roll towards the hole, stopping mere inches from its target. Adrien’s eyes widened when it approached but immediately, his eyes start to shrink as he realizes he’s going to have to hit it one more time for this hole.
Adrien: “Seriously?!”
Stacy places a hand over her mouth, trying not to laugh, but it’s in vain as she chuckles loud enough for Adrien to hear. He turns around as she lowers her hand and puts on her best straight face, but again, cracks as she begins laughing.
Stacy: “I’m sorry, it’s just so darn cute! You get so into it, and you’re so competitive. Honestly, I’m probably going to take at least one more shot to make mine on this hole than you. Just focus, okay?”
Sterling walks over behind him and whispers calmly.
Stacy: “Seriously, the hole is right there...you can do it. I believe in you.”
Adrien gently taps the ball to sink the shot that a four-year-old could have made. He shakes his head as he grabs his ball and steps off the green.
Adrien: “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Three strokes for me on this hole. I’m still up by five right now, thankfully.”
Stacy: “Yeah, I mean it’s not like I’m going to make this in less than three shots, or strokes as you called it.”
Stacy places her ball at the same position that Adrien had sat his to start. She then placed her pink Nike hat back on and adjusted her body, ready to take a shot. She turned her head back to Adrien once more.
Stacy: “Don’t laugh at me when I miss terribly…”
Stacy nonchalantly taps the ball with her club and the ball makes a beeline right towards the hole. Stacy quickly glances at Adrien who can’t believe it. His eyes are widened as the ball circles around the hole and then falls in! Stacy jumps into the air, kicking her feet and dropping her club.
Stacy: “Hole in one! I got a hole in one!”
A couple walking by to the next hole claps for the energetic blonde and laughs as Adrien remains frozen in shock at the shot by his girlfriend.
Stacy: “Adrien, can you believe that? That’s my first hole in one ever!”
She finally stops her jumping, running over to Adrien and taking his hands excitedly, her eyes just as wide as his, with a grin a mile long across her face.
Adrien: “You. Have got. To be kidding...me…”
Adrien’s stunned reaction disappears before shaking his head back to reality. He is able to smile once again, getting over the temporary shot to his ego.
Adrien: “I did not see that coming. I’m still up by three at least. But good job, sweetie.”
Stacy: “Thank you very much!”
She pulls him along to the hole, where she leans down and retrieves her ball before standing back up straight.
Stacy: “Winner buys dinner?”
Adrien chuckles a little as they both walk towards the next hole. He sets the ball on the ground before moving it to a more optimal location for his first shot on this hole.
Adrien: “I mean, I was going to cook you something when we got back home. I thought you’d rather something home cooked. And Adrien-cooked, mind you.”
Due to the obstacles in the way, this particular hole was going to take at least two strokes as the was a big fork in the path to the hole, a thin strip on the left which you were more likely to get stuck on if you didn’t hit it just right but could get to the hole quicker, or the safer, three shot strip on the right. Stacy already knew which side her boyfriend was aiming for.
Stacy: “So, we haven’t talked much about what you did for me on Tuesday in Dallas.”
Dallas could only mean one thing, Karnage-Pro Championship Wrestling, or KCW as it was more commonly known as, and the events that transpired on the final day of February, a mere three days ago. Yet it took Stacy til the third day of March in the middle of their mini golf date to actually discuss the elephant in the room: Adrien dropkicking four people who surrounded the ring, ready to attack Stacy with no mercy until her KCW allies could arrive to back her up.
Stacy: “You’ve sat ringside before, but never made any attempts to get involved, what triggered that this week? I was surprised when one second I was surrounded by big bad guys, and the next I see you hitting four dropkicks in a row and clearing the ring.”
Her small talk wasn’t to distract him from the shot, she was genuinely curious as to what sparked ‘The Dropkick King’ to throw multiple trademark kicks this week. Adrien doesn’t take his eye of the course as he replies.
Adrien: “It was getting difficult sitting there, week after week, watching all these ambushes being launched at you like clockwork. It wasn’t a matter of ‘if’ there would be an ambush attempt, but just a matter of how they were going to try to catch you on each particular week.”
Adrien gives the shot a hard swing, landing in a fairly ideal location on the left patch of artificial grass for Adrien to have a fairly easy second shot to sink. Adrien doesn’t celebrate his shot though, but turning to Stacy, who is listening intently to Adrien with her blue eyes glistening as Adrien spoke about how he felt watching all the attacks, successful and failed, being thrown at her.
Adrien: “I don’t like seeing people I love put in harm’s way. And I’ve made it pretty clear that I’m in love with you, Stacy. I know you wiggled out of that last attempt of theirs, but it looked pretty dire this time. I couldn’t just watch it. I had to do something. I had to protect the girl that I love since I was present and capable. I didn’t care about any consequences and if in that position again, I still wouldn’t. I wouldn’t have been able to forgive myself if I had let them hurt you if there was something I could do about it.”
Stacy took in all of the words, particularly focusing on the ‘love’ word that popped up a few times. Since meeting right before Christmas, the two had become nearly inseparable, especially since becoming an official couple.
Stacy: “I just don’t think I thanked you for it, so thanks. Sometimes, people expect the hero to always save the day, but...you’re my hero. I needed you on Tuesday.”
Stacy looks down at the artificial grass, blushing shyly for the first time in awhile. When they first met, her cheeks were rosy more times than they weren’t, but after growing comfortable around him, the stuttering and blushing has faded away for the most part.
Stacy: “I also wanted you to know, that if you ever feel the need to do it again, I won’t ever get mad at you for helping me. My ego isn’t such that I feel like I’m above needing your help. I just wanted you to know that.”
Adrien: “You’re always out there trying to save everyone. It was time someone went out of their way to try to save you.”
Adrien smiles at his girlfriend, trying to make her feel more comfortable again as he notices the blushing has returned for the first time since he serenaded her with an Elvis song in the middle of a busy airport.
Adrien: “And if I am ever in a position where I am present and able, I will always be there for you. Always.”
Stacy nods her head with a closed-mouth smile on her face and watches as Adrien sets up his second shot, and in a bit of a rebound from the last hole, sinks it in only two this time. Stacy watches him collect his ball with the confidence back on his face as he tosses it up in his hand and catches it.
Stacy: “Now you’re showing off.”
Stacy sets her ball down and focuses on it for a minute. After taking in a deep breath, she gently taps the ball, using the same path that Adrien had laid out before her with his shot.
Stacy: “I learned from the best.”
With a smile, she walks up to her ball, and this time with less focus, a more spontaneous shot is taken by Sterling, and she, like Adrien, sinks it in her second shot.
Stacy: “I guess I’m still catching up to you, babe. Better step it up a notch on the next few holes.”
Stacy bends over, picking up her ball, and instead of walking back to Adrien, she takes off towards the next hole, laughing.
Stacy: “Now it’s your turn to catch up!”
The KCW Showcase Champion didn’t have much of a chance outrunning the former track star as Adrien sprints for his girlfriend and catches her within seconds, the two laughing as he grabs her around the waist and picks her up. He throws her over his shoulder as he picks his club back up as he dropped it when he started running.
Adrien: “I’m sorry, you were saying!”
Adrien sets his girlfriend down at the start of their next hole, the second-to-last one on the course. Adrien decides to let Stacy go first as he leans on the post with the big number seventeen on it.
Adrien: “Remember, I’m winning by three and we only have two holes left. But, no pressure...”
Adrien’s tone is teasing enough to warrant Stacy to stick her tongue out at Adrien.
Stacy: “No pressure at all…”
As Stacy sets her ball down and looks at it, she’s distracted by a voice.
: “SUPER STACY!!!”
Stacy turns to see a little girl running towards her. The young blonde couldn’t be older than six or seven, and seeing her parents follow behind her with smiles on their faces, Stacy leans down and meets the little girl on the green and greets her with a high five.
Stacy: “Well hello super fan! What’s your name?”
: “My...name-is-is...Marcy!”
The little girl is excited and out of breath from charging towards the champion wrestler, but Stacy does her best to help the young fan relax.
Stacy: “Well, Marcy. I’m on a top secret mission and could use your help. Are you willing to be my super sidekick today?”
Marcy: “Yes, yes, yes! Can I..ha...have a superhero name?”
Stacy nods with a big grin on her face.
Stacy: “I think the perfect superhero name for you would be Marvelous Marcy! How does that sound?”
The little girl nods her head energetically in approval as Stacy continues.
Stacy: “Perfect, so here’s the mission. I’m losing in this game of golf and I need help from someone to catch up to my big, bad, boyfriend!”
She points at Adrien but then leans in and whispers ‘he’s not REALLY bad, but he’s winning’ to the little girl.
Stacy: “Do you think you can help me get a hole in one here to catch up a little bit more?”
Marcy: “I’m really good at golf! I can...do it!”
Marcy’s parents pull their phones out and begin recording as Stacy stands behind Marcy and holds the large club with her. Together, the two hit the ball. It rolls slowly towards the hole.
Stacy: “I think we did it…”
Marcy looks at the ball with hope in her eyes as the ball circles the hole and falls in! The little girl's parents begin cheering after successfully capturing the moment on video, as Stacy picks her up and spins her around.
Stacy: “Marcy! You did a MARVELOUS job there! I couldn’t have done it without you!”
Stacy sits the girl down and gives her another high five, before reaching up, pulling her hat from her head.
Stacy: “And this is for you. For being the best super fan slash sidekick ever!”
Sterling gets down to a knee and hands the little girl the bright pink hat before embracing her in a hug.
Stacy: “Thank you so much for coming to see me!”
The little girl runs back towards her parents as Stacy thanks them and then turns to Adrien, placing her hands on her hips.
Stacy: “Looks like someone is making an epic comeback.”
Adrien, who hasn’t left the post and stayed off camera the entire time, stands back up.
Adrien: “You might have super fans who are able to help you. But there is one big thing that I have.”
Adrien gives a confident smile as he sets his ball back down on the grass and takes a second to aim his shot.
Stacy: “And what is it that you have?”
She questions him but takes note of his focus on the ball. Adrien keeps his confident smile, not even looking back as he replies, taking his shot once more.
Adrien: “I believe.”
Adrien, like the young fan before him, also is able to sink a hole in one. The odds were not in Stacy’s favor with only one hole to go and still down by three. Stacy shakes her head, partly impressed and partly disbelieving what she just witnessed.
Adrien: “I’m dangerous when I believe.”
Stacy: “I’ve always known that.”
Stacy smiles but is slightly disappointed as she walks towards the final hole with Adrien.
Stacy: “Now you just have to believe you are going to regain the #FSociety Championship and that nobody can stop you as long as you believe in yourself. Can you use the same belief, in your career? Or am I the poor soul that is dealing with the complete wrath of Adrien Cochrane?”
Stacy decides to let Adrien go first, knowing her chances of coming back are slim to none at this point.
Adrien: “There is a big reason why that happens to be the big word on my new t-shirts #FSociety is starting to sell out of. And was recently added to the end of my Twitter bio.”
The Dropkick King hits the ball once more. With such a long course, Adrien wasn’t aiming for a hole in one but was trying to make it easier for him to sink it on his second shot.
Adrien: “I plan on entering the ring every single time with the same intensity I entered on Tuesday. Like I was just a mere three days ago, I was a man on a mission. That particular mission was to protect my beloved paramour at all costs.”
Adrien lines up his second shot, barely missing the hole to the left, but enough for it to skip past the hole.
Adrien: “Starting with my match against Sarah Keyes is the start of a new mission. It’s not so much of a mission as it is a quest. It’s a quest for title win number two. It’s a quest to win back my championship and ensure that not a single person in the locker room of #FSociety or anywhere else ever question what I can and cannot do.”
Adrien, doing some simple math in his head, does something Stacy doesn’t expect. He obviously swings and misses on purpose, letting the ball stop right by the hole for Adrien to knock it in on the fourth stroke.
Adrien: “A hole in one ties it. Good luck.”
Stacy walks up and sets her ball down. She remembers what Adrien just said.
Stacy: “Believe.”
The word was barely a whisper as it escapes her lips, but it floats around the blonde’s head as she took a calculated swing, awaiting the results.
Stacy: “Come on, come on, come on!”
Stacy hung on her words as the ball hit off the wall and began rolling towards the hole.
Stacy: “Adrien…”
The ball slowly began coming to a stop, halting right before falling in, but Stacy pressed her hands together, still believing.
Stacy: “COME ON!”
A gentle, but effective gust of wind sent Stacy’s hair blowing, and the ball falling into the hole. She had tied the game on a hole in one!
Stacy: “HOLE IN ONE! WE TIED!”
Stacy drops her club and runs to Adrien, who doesn’t seem to be bothered at all by the fact that his girlfriend tied him. She leaps into the air and is caught by Adrien.
Stacy: “That was the most fun game of golf I’ve EVER played!”
Adrien: “Didn’t you say this was your first time even playing?”
Stacy: “Well, technically it is. I played once at a birthday party when I was like five, but I was kind of clumsy, fell and bumped my head so I left the party before finishing. This is a much more pleasant experience.”
Adrien: “As for your food proposition, I really did put a roast in the Crock Pot earlier, so I really hope we’re not going to waste that. Did you want anything to go along with it, though? As your reward for getting this hard earned tie?”
Stacy: “Not for dinner, but for breakfast. I think you know what I want.”
The blushing returns as Stacy quickly glances down at the artificial grass as her teeth pull at her bottom lip. For weeks it seemed, Sarah Lacklan had been teasing the two about having ‘pancakes’, which is exactly what the superheroine of the ring was hinting at. The three-time World Champion raises his eyebrow at her request.
Adrien: “You really think so, huh?”
Adrien removes the black Nike visor he had been sporting the entire night as he wipes a bead of sweat off his forehead.
Adrien: “Let me guess, that stuff I said back there about why I jumped that guard rail for you was a factor in this decision?”
Stacy still hasn’t looked back up since mentioning it, and instead decides to deflect, laughing nervously.
Stacy: “We can talk about it more over dinner. I’m getting hungry. Kicking your butt takes a lot of energy you know!”
Adrien: “I think Marcy was a bigger factor in the final score than you would want to believe, Miss Sterling! But yeah, let’s return our equipment and head back home. We got a roast with, I guess mashed potatoes as a side. And, I guess, pancakes...for dessert…”
Adrien laughs a little bit as he puts both of their clubs back on the rack and the balls inside the bucket near the exit of the facility.
Adrien: “You know, I could have made it on that third stroke, right?”
Stacy Sterling gives Adrien a playful shove as Adrien hits the button to unlock his car door for them to head back home for the evening. The lights flicker on his Mercedes-Benz as he opens the door for his girlfriend, watching her hop into the passenger seat of the car. A smile comes across the face of the Dropkick King as he shuts the door. It was one of those smiles that he didn't even realize his face was doing because it came so naturally to him.
Damn, I love this girl!
